Batwoman is a TV series chronicling the adventures of the DC character with the same name. Batwoman is part of the larger Arrowverse based on the pantheon of DC superhero characters that include Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, and many others.
You can watch Batwoman on the TV channel The CW. The first season talks about Kate Kane, Batman's cousin, and how she dons the mantle of protecting Gotham city when he goes absent. The second season onwards focuses on Ryan Wilder as she becomes Batwoman and performs the same role.
The plotline of the comic series fits in perfectly with the actual events of the TV series since Ryan was a character who was designed to succeed the original Batwoman. When Kate first appeared in the crossover comic "Elseworlds," a TV series was immediately in the offing, but when Ruby Rose, who was cast in the show's titular character, quit suddenly, Javicia Leslie took on the role of Ryan as a natural successor to Kate's Batwoman.
The series is relatively new, having aired its first episode on 6th Oct '19 and ended the first season on 17th May '20. The third season premiered on 13th Oct '21.
If you are fans of the DC Arrowverse and love the deep and dark backstories, complex plot lines, and character development themes that DC usually takes towards their characters, Batwoman will force you into a major flashback.
Batwoman is based on the story of how Kate Kane and Ryan Wilder overcome the ghosts of their past and transition into the role of crime fighting vigilantes operating in Gotham City, much like the original Batman comics. You should watch Batwoman to get the familiar feeling of watching the adventures of the caped crusader.
Batwoman Season 1 was aired on the CW, and you can watch Batwoman online by accessing the CW app or the CW's website and taking a subscription. A DVD and Blu-Ray were released for the season on Aug 8'20.
When Batman suddenly disappears from Gotham City, Kate finds out that it was her cousin Bruce Wayne who was Batman all along. Kate has prior military skills and decides that Batman's approach to crime-fighting resonates with her own.
She resolves to follow her cousin in his footsteps, and the media crown her as "Batwoman ."She uses the help of former Wayne Enterprises tech guy Luke Fox and her own step sister Mary Hamilton. Mary finds out later on that Kate is Batwoman.
Kate's father had meanwhile created a security firm called the Crows. The Crows get in the way of the Wonderland Gang, a crime syndicate led by serial killer Alice who later turns out to be Kate's fraternal sister Beth, long thought to be dead during a car accident.
Kate is also trying to convince the Crows that she is on their side and offering her help to them. The Crows do not wish to accept the help of a masked vigilante.
If you are wondering where to watch Batwoman Season 2, you can watch it on the CW online, or you can also get it on Blu-Ray and DVD.
If you watch Batwoman Season 2, you are in for a big surprise right at the start. The second season begins with Kate Kane's (supposed) death! Her plane crashed while she was traveling. One of the survivors, Ryan Wilder, ends up with the Batsuit from the wreckage and decides to use the Batwoman personality to avenge the death of her mother.
The Crows are meanwhile in the crosshairs of a new enemy, the False Face Society, which is a drug ring led by a mysterious personality known as the Black Mask. The Black Mask also has Kate prisoner from the plane wreckage. They used a woman named Enigma to brainwash Kate into believing she is Circe Sionis, the daughter of the Black Mask. Circe Sionis died when Alice broke out of Arkham Asylum.
Alice is also dealing with the ghosts of her past as she comes to remember her own connection to Enigma, who had also brainwashed and removed her childhood memories from her. Enigma had done so in the direction of a mysterious villain Safiyah Sohail. She was also in connection with a mysterious person known as Ocean during this time.
The Black Mask gets Kate's father, Jacob, to go to prison (for withholding information that Alice is actually Beth Kane). There, Jacob and his wife Mary meet Circe (who is actually Kane). Circe gains their confidence and steals some items from them that are related to Batman's enemies.
Alice defeats the Black Mask, and together with Ryan, she frees Kate of the Circe personality. Alice is sent back to Arkham Asylum for her crimes, where she meets the Black Mask again. She also tells Ryan that her biological mother is still alive. Kate visits her father and then decides to go and look for Bruce, who has been missing till now.
The items that were stolen during the conflict wash ashore in a container as one of Poison Ivy's plants opens.
Batwoman Season 3 is now available on the CW channel. You can watch Batwoman on their site or through the CW app directly. But that's not the best way to watch Batwoman. More about that in the next section!
Season three begins with Ryan teaming up with Luke to find Batman's stolen items which include many of his trophies from defeating criminals, such as the Mad Hatter's Hat, Poison Ivy's plants, and Mr. Freeze's liquid nitrogen gun. These items end up in the hands of many different villains.
Former Gotham PD member Renee Montoya forces Ryan to use the services of Alice to find these items and restore them back. Meanwhile, Kate's mother, Mary, gets possessed by Poison Ivy's plant, and she starts acting on her behalf, while Renee finds out the resting place of Poison Ivy and brings her body back to life with the help of Mary.
Ryan also discovers a secret from her past: her biological mother is Jada Jet, CEO of Jeturian Industries. She also has a brother Marquis, who himself had a dark past when he got involved in an incident with the Joker as a young boy.
Crisis on Infinite Earths is a crossover event based on comic books of the same name. It is based on the happenings in the DC multiverse, which is in trouble, and it is up to all the heroes of the Justice League to come together and save the world.
The television version of the comic book airs on the CW, and it includes most of the chutzpah of the original comic while adding its own spin. The show can be very confusing to watch because it involves multiple shows and multiple episodes, and unless you watched the shows when they first aired, you would be completely confused about the order to watch them.
Here is the right order to watch the show:
So essentially, if you are looking to watch part two, you have to watch Batwoman Season 1, Episode 9.
Crisis on Infinite Earths is a gripping multi-hero series that begins where Season 7 of the Green Arrow ends, so this is where you should start your journey if you want to watch the 5 part crossover.
The main characters that are included in Crisis are The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Before you start off, it's best if you watched the crossover event Elseworlds, which would give you a precursor of what these crossover shows are all about. You will also understand more about multiple universes and the idea of alternate realities from Elseworlds.
Arrow Season 8 is also a must watch before you embark on watching Crisis. It's just seven episodes, so it should be a quickie for fans. After you finish your Crisis journey, the best step is to return back to Arrow Season 8 Episode 10, which is the final ending to the Green Arrow character.
All of this is available on the CW through their online portal as well as on their app.
Now that you have understood the Batwoman franchise and CW's take on it, you might be wondering where and how you can watch Batwoman online free?
You can watch Batwoman for free on the CW channel (ad supported). If you don't have a TV connection to watch the CW, you have two choices - wait for the episode to stream on the app the next day after it comes on TV, or else you can go to a streaming service like YouTube TV or Hulu which offers CW content in its package.
The CW keeps the latest episodes of Batwoman free to stream on its app. You can watch the last five episodes online free on the CW's app or portal.
However, if you want to stream the older episodes of Batwoman, you will have to take up a paid subscription to HBO Max, which of course, includes a host of other programming as well.
Now that you know that the latest episodes of Batwoman are available on the CW, you might think the best way is to just get the channel on TV or watch the show on their app, right? Wrong.
The CW is an ad supported channel that streams only in the US. So if you hate ads, or you don't live in the US, watching the show on their app is going to be a major problem. You will need a VPN if you stay outside, and there is just nothing that you can do about the ads. Or is there?
The best way to watch Batwoman is to use a software called StreamFab CW Downloader. This magical application lets you download the episodes from the CW (so there's no hassle of bandwidth problems or poor internet connections). But that's not the best part.
The best part is that while downloading, it automatically removes the ads! And to top that off, you can access the content from outside the US as well (you will still need a VPN, though).
Some other great benefits of using the StreamFab CW Downloader instead of using CW's own app are:
All of this comes at a fairly low price of $89.99 for lifetime access to the software and all its upgrades. And if you just want to download the episodes for a month, you can get it even cheaper at just $49.99.
The Batwoman TV show is a superb take on the original Batwoman comics that continue with the legacy of Batman's own adventures to stop crime as a caped crusader. If you want to watch Batwoman, you can access all episodes on the CW via TV, or else the next day on their app. But the best way to watch the show is to download the episodes using StreamFab CW Downloader, which gives you a host of benefits, including removing all the ads from the show!
